Today marks a major step forward for 911 professionals here in Lucas County.

With the passage of Resolution No. 2026-292, our dedicated 911 Telecommunicators are formally recognized as First Responders within Lucas County, a long-overdue acknowledgment of the critical, life-saving work they perform every single day.

This recognition highlights what we have always known. Our Call Takers, Dispatchers, and Telecommunicators are the first voice in an emergency, providing calm, clarity, and direction when it matters most.

We also proudly recognize the proclamation of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, April 12–18, 2026, honoring the professionalism, compassion, and commitment of these essential workers.

Your support and partnership helped make this recognition a reality.

While this is a significant milestone, our work is not done. We will continue the fight alongside Ohio APCO to push for statewide legislation that properly classifies 911 Call Takers, Dispatchers, and Telecommunicators throughout Ohio.

Our voices are being heard, and we are just getting started.
